Farmers Weekly Announces InFaba

InFaba has been picked up by Farmers Weekly as part of its coverage of the £21.5m Defra Farming Innovation Programme announcement. The piece names the project alongside the £1.49m award and positions it as one of the headline Low Emissions Farming projects in the tranche.

Both feed innovations are described: the tannin-rich faba bean co-product designed to alter rumen fermentation and reduce enteric methane, and the heat-treated faba bean intended to displace a significant proportion of imported soya bean meal in dairy rations.

The wider regenerative angle is also covered. By encouraging greater use of UK-grown pulses, the project supports soil health, biodiversity and arable rotations while reducing dependence on high-carbon imported feed linked to deforestation risk.

The three-year programme combines crop science, ruminant nutrition research, on-farm trials and life cycle and economic analysis.
