InFaba covered in the Daily Telegraph

InFaba Project has been covered in The Telegraph.

InFaba has been covered in The Telegraph. The piece centres on the enteric methane work and the in vivo dairy trials at SRUC, where John McArthur described the GreenFeed system as "essentially a cow breathalyser".

The coverage also picks up the soya replacement story. Heat-treated UK faba beans displace imported soybean meal in dairy rations, cutting feed-related emissions and reducing exposure to forest-risk supply chains under the incoming UKFRC regulation.

The consortium is targeting a 10% reduction in enteric methane from UK dairy cows through the tannin-rich hull fraction. Combined with full displacement of the 360,000 tonnes of imported soybean meal used in UK dairy each year, sector-wide adoption could deliver 1.6 MtCO₂e of annual savings, worth £385m at current carbon valuations.

InFaba is a 36-month Innovate UK project led by McArthur BDC with SRUC, PGRO, Müller UK & Ireland and Farm Carbon Toolkit. It runs to November 2028.
